Life is a Learnt Skill

The uncomfortable truth

Growing up in the midst of “Budaya Timur” has more or less shaped our way of thinking, how to behave, and the way we do things. I personally think that we implement the “always put other first, even before ourselves” rule too much, too deep. There is always two sides of the same coin, of course. But “too much” is never great. That rule made us lose ourselves, somewhere along the way. And finding that “selves” again, if not ever, is never easy. There is just too much unspoken pretty funny rules in this crazy world that we live in.   The uncomfortable truth The truth is hard, and harsh It makes us shifting uncomfortably on our seat It doesn't put us at ease It makes us put our defensive mode out-front, more than ready to devour the person in front. Truth forces us to swallow our pride.   And pride, is a pretty big thing to swallow.   And the truth-tellers doesn't exactly have the easiest life, too. They tend to be avoided by others. It's like as if...

A Letter to The One

So many of us young people feel insecure because we do not find our "one true love". But that is not true, it's not like we can't find them, we just haven't met them yet. And besides. we do not find love, love finds us. We, being human, missed them, longed for them even if we haven't met them. We should be well-prepare to be the best version of ourselves and greet them with our big, confident self which is more than ready to welcome them into our lives and be our life-long partner. A Letter to The One Hello, love. How are you? I hope this letter finds you, and it finds you well. You know, recently I remembered this lyric from 'IDK you yet, by Alexander 23'. "How can you miss someone you've never met? Cause I need you now but I don't know you yet. Oh tell me are your eyes brown, blue or green? And do you like it with sugar and cream? How can you miss someone you've never met?" He repeatedly ask that particular question ov...

In Return

This poetry was made with a preview of it posted before, “The Heart of A Child” which you can see on my facebook album (FB : Ananda Khaira Azizah) or on my “LittleLoves” instagram histories (ig : @the_littlewomen). I am the very first born from both of my parents’ family sides. From my mother and my father sides. I am the biggest sister of everyone; of 9 beautiful people, to be precise. As a big sister, I grew up showering them with such tremendous love and they too, love me tremendously in return. What a blessed and beautiful life I got to live in.   In Return For what is the heart of a child, If it's not as pure as light For what is life gifts to us all, If it's not their pretty, beautiful soul?   A child is honest, you see. They gave exactly as much as they received.   When we speak good words, we'll get good words in return. When we nurture them with good thoughts, they'll emit good thoughts too, in return. When we show them good behavior towards one another, they t...

Don't you ever wonder

“There is no one for me to blame ,  because I know the only thing in my way  i s me.” Mandy Harvey said on her “Try” song. I froze the moment I heard that song. Such powerful message packed with a beautiful song, alongside with a wonderful vocal. Sometimes we lost sights of ourselves. We are so focus on competing with others when the only one we should ever compete with is ourselves. We compete with the “yesterday” us. As we must  always  be better than the way we were. Baby steps are okay, we just have to keep going, and keep improving ourselves to be even better. Don't you ever wonder Don't you ever wonder what lays beyond those walls? Those walls of self-doubt, self-distrust, self-pity, those walls of underestimation of oneselves. All of those self-destructive feelings; those crazy thoughts, those mindsets? What will happen if you have none of that? Who will you be? What will you accomplished? What great things will you achieve? How far, will you go?   You'll...

Fun Learning

As medical practitioners, we were often told that being a doctor means that we’re committing ourselves to be a lifelong learner and guess what? It doesn’t just end with us doctors. Everyone is a lifelong learner. “It’s never too late to learn” as it often said. No matter how old you are, there is never a time limit for those who want to learn. I think every child needs to view learning as a fun experience. Every single one of us has to. It makes us look forward to learn new things, it helps us view learning as a lifelong experience and feel no burden by it. The possibility of being one (a lifelong learner —red) might even excite us. When we’re already doing so, we’ll keep learning even though our study has ended. We even start to develop symptoms – we start to develop this itch, this hunger, we start to feel an immense desire to study. Then we begin to dive deeper into one particular subject or we find ourselves searching for any other interesting topics to swallow. Oh and spoiler...

Surat cinta untuk sahabat

For those loved ones whom I laid my heart upon, right from the start of my college ride up until we’re finally apart. I’ll keep you all safe in my mind always, I’ll hold you close to my heart. For nothing can ever do us part. Thank you for your love, thank you for all of those crazy journeys we’ve had, thank you for everything. It has been my greatest pride, it has been one hell of a ride.   Loves of my life   For those who got angry on my behalf.   I've met the loves of my life during college. And yes, you read it right. "Loves" as in plural form. The ones whom I literally can't live without. Those people whom I hold so dear, so deep in my heart, next to my soul.   There is not a single day has gone by without me being thankful to God for crossing our paths one to another. For bringing them to me.   Every single one of them are just so precious in their own way. And I love them precisely and solely because they are th...
